Some people say I must be crazy for sailing across the Bering Sea in an eight foot rowboat, others say I was so brave.

My answer to them is that I was desperate to reach my wife and son who are living in China, and that two weeks at sea, from Alaska to Russia, was a much longer journey cut short due to adverse weather and lack of water.

Everyone wants to know why I did not just jump on an airplane like everyone else, to which I reply that I don’t have a passport. Of course, then they ask why.

The fact is, there is no short answer, and each answer presents another question. So, following is the long answer. I will shed light on the mystery behind my adventure and share the details of the journey, which certainly begins on December 13th 2004, some fourteen years earlier.
